I thoroughly enjoyed the 2016 Golden Globes. Awards Shows in general are my jam – I love looking at the different styles and trends, what risks are being taken and what classics are being revived. I love taking a moment to appreciate some of the ridiculous talent out there that creates this amazing art we call the movies & television. This year was nothing short of fantastic. There were so many stunning moments, but these were some of my favorites:
This was the first dress that made my jaw drop. Alicia Vikander is a wonder in Louis Vuitton. All white is one of my favorite trends of the season. Also, the higher boat neckline is so flattering on her! And the ruffles on her sleeve? The perfect dainty detail. But my favorite part of the whole dress are the open sides – I don’t know what it is but I think it’s so sexy without trying too hard. This dress I found has a similar silhouette and is equally striking.
Corinne Foxx was, I think, far overlooked. Miss Golden Globe 2016 (and Jamie Foxx’s daughter) was dazzling in a Paolo Sebastian gown. Another hot trend I dig – that “nude” look: pretty details covering up just what they need to. I remember seeing a lot of this at Cannes last year and I’m so glad it’s still here. Just look at how ethereal she looks! Beauty. I’ve seen this dress (that totally reminds me of this “nude” look) a few times now while shopping online and I just wish I had an event where wearing it would be appropriate… *All you Brides-to-Be! Would this not be a fabulous Bachelorette Party dress?!*
Giuliana Rancic is one of my faves to watch for on the Red Carpet even though she’s usually reporting from it instead of just walking it. Her sense of style is impeccable and this gown continues to prove it. First detail: the cutouts. Another way to show some skin without getting all Kate Hudson (sorry to say I I did not love her look this year). Second detail: those sleeves! If those don’t scream glam, i don’t know what does. Here’s a dress under $50 that totally looks inspired by Giuliana’s dress by Austrialian designer Alex Perry!
Although Jaimie Alexander’s dress was very pretty, what was most striking to me was how the emerald color played with her features. Look at her. WOW. That’s her color. Hands. Down. I happen to be a brunette, so I’m always looking for inspirational colors to compliment my darker features. I was totally hit by it yesterday! I compiled some new emerald pieces for my wish list…
We talk a whole lot about Mr. Channing Tatum but Sunday night, Mrs. Jenna Dewan-Tatum was the star. She was fabulous in this sequined, sapphire colored dress by Zuhair Murad with a plunnnging neckline. Sapphire – another color perfect for brunettes… am I sensing a gem theme here?! Take a look at this dress from BCBG that I found, totally giving off Jenna’s vibe. I have a few weddings this year, I might just need to snatch one up!
This is just the beginning of awards season… I can’t wait to see what else we’ll get to see on the red carpet! What were some of your favorite looks?!
